Last semester, we told you about Emanuel Alcala, a research analyst with the Central Valley Health Policy Institute and current public health doctoral student at U.C. Merced. The Fresno State alumnus became one of only 40 students nationwide admitted into the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Scholars program.

Alcala recently appeared on KSEE 24’s Sunday Morning Matters to discuss his research on asthma morbidity and pediatric asthma hospitalizations in the San Joaquin Valley. His research also ties in to the Children’s Health and Air Pollution Study – a partnership with Fresno State, U.C. Berkeley, Stanford University and U.C. San Francisco-Fresno. Learn more about the study at the link.
