Dr. Bryan Berrett, who most recently served as chair of the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Studies,  has accepted the role as Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence at Fresno State. The announcement was made by University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lynnette Zelezny. Berrett began in that role on July 11th.

The new center is designed to provide faculty support with a team of instructional designers, faculty-driven learning communities and faculty fellows related to the DISCOVERe program and course redesign with technology.

Berrett had been a faculty member of the CDDS department for the past 18 years and as a professor in that department, secured two large federal grants totaling $2.4 million to prepare deaf education teachers and sign language interpreters to serve deaf children.

On campus, he has been actively involved in faculty development for several years, including being one of the vanguard faculty for DISCOVERe. He has taught extensively online and is responsible for the University’s quality assurance of online learning and teaching program.

We congratulate Dr. Berrett on his new journey at Fresno State and thank him for his longstanding commitment to the college.
