Congratulations are in order for recreation administration senior, Corey Torres of Tehachapi, who just has received the 2014 California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) Aging Activities and Services Section Scholarship! On March 12th, he accepted his award among supporters, including Dr. Sam Lankford, chair in the Department of Recreation Administration, as well as fellow classmates who were all in Sacramento attending the annual CPRS Conference.

The CPRS provides career development, networking, resources and is the public advocate for California park and recreation professionals and has a network of more than 4,000 members.
Torres, who is majoring in community recreation and youth services, hopes to one day work as a director of a parks and recreation district or have his own business relating to health, wellness and leisure studies.
“I am very fortunate and grateful to receive this scholarship through the California Park & Recreation Society,” said Torres. “Being recognized by this incredible organization gives me a leg up as I continue to network and interview for future jobs and positions in the recreation field!”
