The John D. Welty Award for Excellence in Community Service is a $2,500 scholarship provided to a student who exemplifies the commitment to service that John Welty championed during his 22 years as President of California State University, Fresno. This is the second year the scholarship is being offered.
The award is proudly sponsored by the Community Service Scholarship Program in memory of Marc and Marjorie Radin, who shared Dr. Welty’s dedication for engaging students in service and making Fresno State’s region a better place to live.
In order to be eligible for the award, students must be regularly enrolled, in good academic standing, and meet other university scholarship requirements. Most specifically, candidates must have completed a minimum of 150 accredited service hours, which can be in combination over multiple semesters and/or from different sources. (Accredited service may include credit from a service-learning course, Community Service 1 or 101, internship, or any other relevant coursework.)
All nominations must adhere to the nomination form and be submitted by October 13, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. to:
