Yesterday, we brought you a blog all about volunteering this fall. Well, here’s your chance to volunteer at one of the biggest and best events in Fresno – The Big Fresno Fair! Yes, it is THAT time again…when fried foods of every variety can be consumed in one sitting and rides (big and small) bring smiles to faces, young and old. And of course, who can forget the cows, pigs and sheep?! Aren’t they just adorable? Aside from all that, the fair also provides the perfect opportunity to interact with families and individuals from all over Fresno County, which is exactly what our Central California Center for Health and Human Services plans to do.
The Center, in partnership with the Fresno County Department of Public Health, will be conducting a brief 3-question survey, “Community Themes and Strengths Assessment”, during the entire run of the fair, going on now through October 13th. This is where we need your assistance as a volunteer! Volunteers are still needed for shifts that include:
- 3:45 – 7:00 PM (4 volunteers needed daily)
- 6:45 – 10:00 PM (3 volunteers needed daily)
NOTE: A pass to the Fair will be given to each volunteer, which includes parking and admittance. If you would like to sign up, please contact Diahann Gutierrez at diahannh@csufresno.edu or 559.228.2150 to select your shift. If you need additional information, please contact Donna DeRoo at dderoo@csufresno.edu.
On the first day of the fair alone, over 3,000 people came by and filled out the survey! Answers from the survey will provide important information from community residents for the development of the County Health Improvement Plan.
Thank you for choosing to #LIVEWELL through volunteering!
